Behind the Scenes at the Rose Parade

'Deco Week' is Here!

A semi-truck full of California Grown Flowers arrived at the Cal Poly Universities Rose Parade float building tent in Pasadena this week.

All of the California Grown Flowers for Cal Poly’s Rose Parade Float have arrived!

The pressure is now on the students to take over 100,000 stems of these fresh California Grown blooms and get their float decorated for this year’s Tournament of Roses Parade on January 2.

All of the California Grown Flowers are kept in a refrigerated trailer until ready to use.

The CCFC is a proud sponsor of the Cal Poly Universities Rose Float team, helping them get all of the flowers they need from our flower farmers throughout California.

Over 100,000 stems of California Grown Flowers have been donated to the Cal Poly team this year.

On Jan. 1, the CCFC, working with the California Grown program and California Department of Food & Agriculture Secretary Karen Ross, will ¬†certify the Cal Poly float as “California Grown,” recognizing the universities for their commitment to use California Grown Flowers on their float.

Deco Week is here! All of these flowers will make it onto the Cal Poly float for this year’s parade.

It’s a wonderful tradition and something we look forward to working on and accomplishing with these students each year.
